2001-2002 Review

Early 2000 - James Walsh, James Stelfox and Ben Byrne meet with Barry Westhead to complete the Starsailor line-up.

April 2000 - Starsailor play their first ever gig at London's Heavenly Social.

October 2000 – Starsailor Sign to record label EMI.

January – February 2001 – As part of the NME Carling Tour Starsailor were asked to perform alongside JJ72, Amen and Alfie.  February 5th and the ‘Fever’ single is released which is a top 20 hit and is awarded ‘Single of the Week’ by NME.

March 2001 – the band start performing across the globe.

April 2001 – ‘Good Souls’ (23rd – Number 12 in the singles chart) is released.  Starsailor are asked to support The Manics in Glasgow. The band takes the cover of NME.

May 2001 – Work on the Debut Album is started.

September 2001 – Starsailor cancel New York performance after September 11th.  The single ‘Alcoholic’ is released (Number 10 UK singles chart).

October 2001 – The debut album ‘Love is here’ is released and reaches number 2 in the UK  Album charts.

November – December 2001 – Starsailor complete a European 'Love Is Here' Tour + US gigs as well as support for the charlatans.  The single ‘Lullaby’ is released which only reaches 36 in the UK singles charts.
