This is quite simple. Using the D-string as a guide, both the low E and the high E down to D. Then, using the G string as a guide, tune the A string down to G. And that's all there is to it. Your strings, from thickest to thinnest, should now sound these notes. D, G, D, G, B, D. I am not at all sure if these are the real chord names, but for the sake of the tab we'll just call them, G [ x 0 5 0 3 0 ] G7 [ x 0 3 0 0 5 ] G6 [ x 0 2 0 1 0 ] Basically for most of the song you just strum these in the same pattern as the record. e.g. G G7 G6 G But for the grace of god she'd cry herself to sleep G7 G6 G Because the grace of God is something she can't keep and so on.............................. However, as you may have noticed there is a picking pattern on the guitar at parts of the song. This is hard to explain - I'll try, but don't be surprised if you can't understand it! This is the picking pattern for G D --------------------------- B--------------3------------- G--------0------------0------ D-----------5-----5---------- G-----0-----------------0---- D---------------------------- This is the picking pattern for G7 D----------------5------------ B----------0-----------0------ G----------------------------- D-------------3----3---------- G------0------------------0--- D----------------------------- And this is the picking pattern for G6 D------------------------------- B----------------0-------------- G---------1-------------1------- D------------2------2----------- G-----0----------------------0-- D------------------------------- And that's about it. I think the notes in these patterns change, but who's going to know, it still sounds terrific with a bit of practice. The best way would be to listen to the record while you do this for the first few times. Now that you know what to look for you might be able to pick it up easier for yourself. The picking patterns change half way thru I think, i.e. you change from one to the other when you are in the middle of one. I'm not too sure how to do it myself, but I just busk it. Anyone who wants to make any adjustments or add anything to this tab, feel free. So that's that! And remember keep the fever because if it wasn't for the good souls, life would not matter!
